Viet Capital Securities wins the title of best investment bank in a country with a small but vibrant capital markets base. The brokerage was a lead bookrunner on last year's initial public offering by Mobile World, and secured a prized mandate to underwrite the $300 million initial stock sale of VietJet Air, alongside BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank.
“Viet Capital Securities, as our placement advisor, did an excellent job preparing the background information, helping to present the company to investors, solving whatever obstacles arose, and ultimately delivering the results we expected. We really appreciate their strong performance.”
“VCSC has supported us in arranging capital appropriate for the company’s business expansion. Their bankers demonstrated insightful experience and understanding of capital markets which helped the timely execution and completion of the transaction. It also helped us in optimizing the company’s capital utilization.”
As one of the few local brokerages with an international team of bankers, VCSC has built a number of strong relationships with large local and foreign institutional investors and financial institutions over the years. VCSC's research calls on PET, DPM, DXG, BCI & HPG - each of which has performed extraordinarily well, since the relevant buy or sell recommendations were put out is helping prove how deeply the firm understands the rising star of tomorrow in Vietnam, the next frontier in ASEAN's capital market. Last but not least, VCSC has been able to time the bottom of the index and stand by the issues it led to the market such as the notable Mobile World and Masan Group equity offerings, generating fair returns for not only the issuer but institutional investors who bought into the listing and saw the value of their holdings rise on the first day of trading, due to 2.5x oversubscription as well as excess demand pushing the prices further north.
To win this award requires all-round capabilities and successes in M&A, equities and debt, as well as a trading operation that can place securities. In M&A, the firm concentrates on representing local sellers, mid-sized and large companies involved in many sectors, from consumer goods and services and retail to finance. Often these are companies selling takes or subsidiaries to foreign buyers. On top of this the firm has been active in equities and debt – perhaps not as much as some of its competitors but by engaging in select, high-quality transactions, it has rounded out its investment banking credentials. These include mid-sized but tricky equity private placements for developer Khang Dien House, enabling it to become the second-largest real estate company listed in Saigon, as well as helping the chairman of Phat Dat (another developer) to sell some of his stakes to institutional investors.
